Transformation of the Metro Station Roi Baudouin
The new Metro station is situated between the Mini-Europe Park and the typically vertical architecture of Laeken, a quarter in Brussels.
The violent contrast between the small models of the miniature park and the verticality of the city served as inspiration to the architects. The form of the building shows its purpose: transportation and movement. The vanishing point opens the dialogue with the long ramp towards the city.
The new station protects the access control and provides a lift to the underground metro. The architecture, free in its forms, expresses the dynamics of transportation. The materials chosen had to show high durability against vandalism and the high traffic volume.
For the skin GS3 Architects have chosen ALUCOBOND spectra® Cupral, which perfectly matches the inspiration with its coulour changing surface.
